Company/Community Activities:
Duke associates lend their time and talents to numerous local projects such as Habitat for Humanity and the Children's Guardian Home in Indianapolis.
Our philosophy of community involvement is summed up in the last line of the company's mission statement: We will make the communities where we do business better places to live. This is accomplished by both financial contributions to non-profit organizations and personal volunteer efforts by associates, many of whom serve on boards of various charitable organizations.
On a regional level, Duke selects a national charity to support each year. In 2007, Duke supported the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in each of our cities. In addition, Duke supports the United Way through its annual United Way campaign. Other causes Duke and its associates support include Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers-Big Sisters of America and the American Cancer Society, to name a few.
On a local level, for example, Duke donated time, materials and labor to a major renovation of the Children Guardian's Home in Indianapolis, and associates from each city volunteer with various local organizations.
