Duke Realty associates in Dallas joined more than 100 others at Baylor Cancer Center to paint a mural that honors those affected by cancer. The event was part of the Hope Murals Project, which is an offshoot of the Lilly Oncology On Canvas: Expressions of a Cancer Journey art competition and exhibition.
The Hope Murals Project invites participants to recreate one of the artworks from the Lilly Oncology on Canvas competitions as murals through a collaborative “paint-by-numbers” process.
The mural our team worked on is based on a painting called “After the Storm.” In the original work, artist Mary McIntosh Tepper depicted Arizona’s Cathedral Rock, one of her late husband’s favorite places and where his ashes were spread after he died from cancer in 2008. Find out more about the project and the painting here.
The completed mural will be permanently installed at the KRPC Dallas Opera Rehearsal Center in South Dallas.
