Stuck at home during the pandemic, Americans looked to spruce up their nests and buy new furnishings. And they did a lot more shopping online. Those trends ended up being a boon to Bob’s Discount Furniture.
With that boost, the fast-growing retailer is expanding its supply-chain network as its online sales rise, it rolls out more stores and it looks to build out a national footprint.
The Manchester, Connecticut-based company has opened a new 622,230-square-foot warehouse at 150 Old New Brunswick Road in Piscataway, New Jersey. The logistics center, constructed on the remediated site of a former Union Steel factory, will replace a much smaller 360,000-square-foot location that Bob’s now occupies at 50 Middlesex Ave. in Carteret, New Jersey.
The Piscataway property was developed, owned and managed by Duke Realty, the Indianapolis real estate investment trust that during the past two years has been building up an industrial portfolio in the Garden State.
