Duke Realty Constructing 169,000 SF Industrial Building in Chesapeake Commerce Center

Located just off Broening Highway near Port of Baltimore, new building will provide move-in ready, state-of-the-art warehouse space.

(Baltimore, Md. ‒ Nov. 1, 2016) The Baltimore/Washington, DC office of Duke Realty Corporation (Duke Realty), a leading nationwide REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) specializing in the ownership, management and development of bulk industrial facilities, announced that it is building Chesapeake Commerce 5900, a new, speculative, 169,000-square-foot bulk warehouse. Located in Chesapeake Commerce Center, its 177-acre industrial campus off Broening Highway, Chesapeake Commerce 5900 will be the sixth building constructed, owned and operated by Duke Realty in the industrial development. All of Duke Realty’s other buildings in Chesapeake Commerce Center, which total more than 2 million square feet, are currently 100 percent leased. Construction on Chesapeake Commerce 5900 began in October with completion scheduled for June 2017.

“Chesapeake Commerce Center has proven to be an attractive destination for businesses looking for high-quality warehouse/distribution space in a location with superior highway and port access,” said Battista Orcino, Vice President of Leasing and Development for Duke Realty in Baltimore. “Since all of our Chesapeake Commerce Center properties are fully leased, we elected to start a speculative building so that we can be positioned to respond to clients with immediate space needs.”

Chesapeake Commerce Center is a master-planned industrial campus located on a former General Motors assembly plant site in Eastern Baltimore City just off I-95. Duke Realty has transformed the site into a modern industrial hub with state-of-the-art warehouse space occupied by tenants such as Amazon, Berry Plastics and Hopkins Home Care. Following development of Chesapeake Commerce 5900, only one remaining site is available for development that will support a 182,000-square-foot facility.

Located at 5900 Holabird Avenue, Chesapeake Commerce 5900 will feature 32′ clear height, 50′ x 50′ column spacing, 17 dock doors, two drive-in doors and an ESFR fire protection system. Outside the building will be a shared 200′ truck court, 31 trailer staging spaces and parking for 55 automobiles.

Parties interested in leasing space in Chesapeake Commerce 5900 or build-to-suit opportunities on the adjacent land are invited to contact Mr. Orcino at 703.578.7773.
