Duke Realty Minneapolis Office Helps Out Again at CEAP

A fond tradition for our Minneapolis-St. Paul team is their annual December volunteer event—once again in 2015, Duke Realty associates from the Twin Cities put their efforts toward Community Emergency Assistance Programs (CEAP), helping to set up the Toys of Joy program that offers families in need the opportunity to choose gifts for their children and loved ones using a points system.

MIN_CEAP community serviceOn December 14, six Duke Realty associates visited CEAP’s family service center. “We took all the gifts and donations and separated them by category,” explained Josh Budish, vice president, leasing and development. “Then CEAP provided a point value for each category. Each family receives a certain number of points to use for various items in the store we help to build.”

The Duke Realty team also brought their own donations of gifts for the program and spent the day helping to open and unload boxes of donations. They then organized the space to resemble a retail store. Each family that visits the store can use the points they’ve been allotted to shop for holiday gifts. CEAP serves Northwest Hennepin and Anoka counties, helping families in all life stages gain financial stability and live independently and with dignity.

The effort is a highlight of the holidays for those in the Minneapolis-St. Paul office. “It’s always fun to know that the gifts and the store that we’re helping to set up will provide a lot of fun and happiness,” said Budish, “especially for the children.”
