The safety and well-being of all Duke Realty stakeholders is of utmost importance to us and a long-standing focus of our corporate responsibility program. Understandably our concern has intensified in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, so we wanted to update you on the steps we are taking to help prevent the spread of the virus and protect our valued team members.
First, we are closely monitoring the situation and communicating regularly with our stakeholders as we learn new information. We are following guidelines from government authorities regarding the containment of the virus, specifically the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This includes elevating cleaning practices in our offices and providing hand sanitizers and wipes for our associates’ personal use.
We also have reviewed and amended our associate policies regarding travel (both business and personal), telecommuting, and time-off requirements following travel to a high-risk area, exposure or contraction of the disease. In addition, we are encouraging associates to take signs of illness seriously and stay home if feeling under the weather. We also are discouraging visitors to our offices.
We are working closely with our tenants to ensure they are aware of the CDC’s cleaning recommendations and have access to service providers who can meet their needs. Though in logistics properties, tenants are responsible for cleaning their interior space, our property managers are helping them secure the cleaning resources they need.
We also have communicated with our vendors so that they are aware of our expectations when it comes to cleanliness and our policy regarding interaction with our associates.
Our attention to ongoing developments will continue for the foreseeable future, and we pledge to take any necessary steps to protect our stakeholders. As always, our top priority remains the safety and well-being of our valued team. Thank you for your interest and confidence in Duke Realty.
