GEMU Valves Renews Lease and Expands Space at Duke Realty’s Camp Creek Business Center

Germany-based manufacturer signs long-term renewal for 51,934 square feet.

(Atlanta, Ga. – September 9, 2011) Duke Realty Corp. (Duke Realty) has closed a 51,934-square-foot lease renewal at Camp Creek Business Center with GEMU Valves, an Ingelfingen, Germany-based manufacturer of valves used in the pharmaceutical, food and biotech industries. The company, which operates its North American headquarters at Building 2600 at Camp Creek in East Point, will expand its space from 46,700 square feet to 51,934 square feet to accommodate its growing business.

“GEMU has based its North American headquarters in East Point since 1988, and we’re pleased to keep them at Camp Creek,” said Chris Brown, Senior Vice President in Duke Realty’s Atlanta office. “The strategic location gives this global company convenient access to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and the major Atlanta interstates.”

GEMU Valves uses Building 2600 for office and warehouse space, as well as light manufacturing operations. Duke Realty’s Corey Richardson, Vice President, represented ownership in the transaction, and David Rubenstein, Principal at CresaPartners, represented GEMU.

“We have become spoiled by the proximity of restaurants, hotels and stores at nearby Camp Creek MarketPlace,” said GEMU Valves President Gerhard Braunberger. “We couldn’t think of a better location than where we are.”

The company looked at numerous options in the area, including build-to-suit space,” Rubenstein said. “In the end, GEMU felt that staying at Camp Creek made the best sense economically and for their business operations. This is a strategic location, and Duke Realty has been an excellent, long-term landlord.”

Added Rubenstein, “In this market, you don’t see that many companies expanding their footprint. This is welcome news at a time when many businesses are struggling.”

The 57,168-square-foot Building 2600 is one of 12 Class A facilities at the master-planned Camp Creek Business Center, located in the Atlanta Airport submarket.

GEMU Valves has1,100 employees and operates six production facilities and 20 sales subsidiaries worldwide. It is represented through distributing partners in 50 countries.
