Jake Smith Named Vice President of Leasing and Development for Duke Realty in Southern California

Real estate professional will work to maintain occupancy in existing properties and identify new development opportunities.

(Irvine, Calif. ‒ July 27, 2016) The Southern California office of Duke Realty Corporation (Duke Realty), a leading nationwide REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) specializing in the ownership, management and development of quality industrial facilities, has hired Jake Smith as Vice President, Leasing and Development. Smith, a 15-year commercial real estate veteran, will oversee leasing of the company’s 4.3-million-square-foot Southern California industrial portfolio and be responsible for identifying new development and investment opportunities in the market.

Before joining Duke Realty, Smith was Vice President with DCT Industrial for four years, focused on leasing and acquisitions in the Orange County, Los Angeles and San Diego markets. His previous experience also includes serving as Director of Acquisitions at The Bendetti Company, where he sourced investment opportunities, structured debt and oversaw capital projects. Smith graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in environmental economics and policy.
