Restoration Hardware’s No-Downtime Expansion Part of “Really Strong” Partnership with Duke Realty

Six years ago, Restoration Hardware worked with Duke Realty to build its 800,000 square-foot distribution center in West Jefferson, Ohio. Recently, the partnership continued with a 400,000 square-foot expansion to the facility which is the company’s only non-furniture distribution center. The project took place without interruption in operations.

“We couldn’t have any downtime, and we didn’t have any downtime,” said Restoration Hardware Chief Operating Officer Ken Dunaj. “We had to run the expansion project while we were running operations—and through some very significant peak operations.”

The project included retrofit and load bracing along with the expansion, and enabled Restoration Hardware to function as the company—and the facility around the operation that accounts for 40% of its revenue—grew.

“We couldn’t be more happy with the job,” Dunaj said. “In the past two years, I’ve done two other distribution centers…and as I look at the landscape and deal with different people, Duke Realty is right up there at the top with what they’re able to do and delivering on their promise . . . and just being really strong business partners.”
