In the March 2021 edition of Chicago Industrial Properties, commercial real estate experts are asked their predictions for the industry after a year of pandemic-related restrictions and economic challenges. Susan Bergdoll, vice president and Chicago and Minneapolis operations leader for Duke Realty shared her insights on the future of logistics real estate in the Chicagoland area. “Customer and market share gained by e-commerce companies will not be lost,” said Bergdoll. “All retailers and consumer products companies are investing hundreds of millions of dollars to upgrade their logistics facilities and supply chain networks across the country.”

Bergdoll’s predictions are reinforced with further proof of recent market developments for the company. Duke Realty recently announced two development starts totaling more than 1.8 million square feet in the Chicago market. The build-to-suit facilities are for ecommerce retailer Wayfair and a national home improvement retailer looking to improve it’s supply chain.
