RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 20, 2012 – The nearly 50,000-square foot WakeMed Brier Creek Healthplex has now opened, providing quality healthcare services to the residents of Raleigh and surrounding communities.
The WakeMed Brier Creek Healthplex, developed, financed, leased, managed and owned by Duke Realty, is anchored by a 14-bed stand-alone, full-service emergency department (ED) with an imaging department and laboratory on-site, as well as other independent physician practices. The two-story, Class A facility, located at 8001 TW Alexander Drive on the 12.6-acre campus of WakeMed Brier Creek Healthplex, is part of the WakeMed Health & Hospitals system.
Duke Realty and WakeMed are pioneers in developing stand-alone EDs. Duke Realty, one of the nation’s largest, most experienced healthcare real estate firms, has developed a number of freestanding EDs and has more in development. In 2005, WakeMed opened WakeMed North Healthplex, the first 24/7, full-service, freestanding ED in North Carolina. With the Brier Creek facility, WakeMed now offers six full-service EDs throughout its system.

The project architect for WakeMed Brier Creek Healthplex was Raleigh-based BBH Design and the general contractor was the Raleigh office of Birmingham, Ala.-based Brasfield & Gorrie LLC.
