From general well-being and productivity to work/life balance, we see many good reasons to promote wellness. We’re proud to report that our attention to fostering wellness continues to get noticed.
For the third year in a row, Duke Realty has been recognized as a Gold Level Recipient of the American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly Worksites recognition program, and two of our offices, Cincinnati and Dallas, earned recent “healthiest employer” rankings.
The Fit-Friendly Worksites program encourages positive change through workplace wellness initiatives that
- Offer employees physical activity support
- Provide or increase healthy eating options
- Promote a wellness culture
Our commitment to wellness is nothing new, but we’ve enhanced our offerings in the past year by adding Vitality, a web-based wellness engagement program. This personalized and interactive program incentivizes associates to make and reach their personal wellness goals. We’ve recently added a kids’ component that offers incentives for things like participating in an athletic event or team sport and receiving immunizations.
“Because the Vitality program includes goal setting and progress, we actually get to see how many people participate and how they’ve done,” said Senior Health Plan and Wellness Specialist Rani Brar. “We know, for instance, that in the past nine months 42 associates have gone from out-of-range to in-range body-mass index. And our wellness programs overall have an 84% engagement rate–100% in some of our offices.”
The companywide notice from the American Heart Association especially is a point of pride for our corporate Wellness Council. Congratulations also go out to our teams in Cincinnati and Dallas, each of which received an award for being a Healthiest Employer from Cincinnati Business Courier and Dallas Business Journal, respectively.
We’ll continue to do all we can to encourage wellness in new and innovative ways.
